World AIDS Day 2023

Since the inception of World Aids Day on December 1, 1988, substantial progress has been made toward reducing the spread of HIV and AIDS. New HIV infections have been reduced by 59% since its peak in 1995. New HIV infections have declined by 38%, from 2.1 million to 1.3 million, from 2010 to 2022. AIDS-related mortality has declined by 55% among women and girls since 2010.

Each year Delta Sigma Theta Sorority, Inc. observes World AIDS Day, using our collective voice to support the eradication of HIV and AIDS. Rocky Mount Alumnae Chapter takes this opportunity to unite in the fight against HIV, to show support for people living with HIV, and to commemorate those who died from an AIDS related illness.

We wear our red ribbons and share information to raise awareness of challenges of the disease and the efforts being made to end it. Click here to learn about tools for HIV prevention.
